NMCBBHP requires recertification every two years in order to maintain the high standards of professional practice and to ensure that certified professionals maintain up-to-date in the field. You will receive an email in advance of your recertification date, directing you to complete the recertification application online via your Certemy account.
The re-certification process includes submitting documentation of forty (40) hours of continued education course and training related to YOUR specific credential. The CEU hours must have been accumulated during your certification period. Follow the checklist to start the process of gathering all the required documents.
NOTE: 100% of CE hours can be from online courses. If you are the trainer for a course, you can claim 25% of the approved CEs as your CEUs for renewal.
If you want to make sure your online hours are acceptable for your credential, please email info@nmcbbhp.org with Online CE Approval in the subject line of your email for a timely response.
If your certificate has expired, you will be considered non-certified, and your credential will be placed in inactive status. To reactivate your credential, you must:
1. Submit a completed application to the New Mexico Credentialing Board for Behavioral
Health Professionals (NMCBBHP).
2. Provide all required documentation to support your reactivation request.
3. Submit all reactivation materials within 90 days of your certificate’s expiration date.
Fee: A reactivation fee of $100 will apply.
Accountability: As a credentialed professional, you are responsible for actively monitoring the
status of your certification and ensuring its timely renewal. If your credential becomes inactive, it
is essential that you promptly notify your employer. Please be advised that practicing under an
inactive credential is not permitted, and failure to inform your employer may lead to your
inability to bill Medicaid.
Important: If your credential remains inactive for more than one year, you may be required to
retake the certification exam to reinstate your credential, regardless of whether you meet the
reactivation requirements.
